Shirish was awarded the Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award in 1997 by the Government of Maharashtra for his outstanding performance in sports and organization. It is the most prestigious award presented to players of Maharashtra.

He was a first-class cricketer for the west zone and played under the captaincy of Sanjay Manjrekar. He has played with famous cricketers like Maninder Singh, Raju Kulkarni and Chandrakant Pandit. He captained at university, district level cricket team, and played for the Pune University.

He was on the Pune University Badminton team which was the west zone champion. He was the Badminton champion of Marathwada for ten consecutive years.

He is the Vice President of Maharashtra Badminton Association, President of Aurangabad District Badminton Association & Aurangabad Players Development Association (APDA). He was also the former President of Aurangabad Amateur Youth Creative Club and former Working President of Maharashtra Touch Rugby Association.

He was the Joint Secretary of the Aurangabad District Cricket Association, Life Member of the Aurangabad District Table Tennis Association and Honourable Secretary of Aurangabad District Women’s Cricket Association.

He has coached many players including the daughter of famous poet F. M Shinde, Rucha Shinde (Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Awardee), Deepali Rokle, Roopa Telang and Siddharth Patil.

He was the first person to organize as the Organizing Secretary an International ODI for Women’s Cricket in Marathwada (India vs New Zealand) in 2003-2004. He organized Asian Softball Competition, National School Games for Badminton, National tournaments for Women’s Cricket and various State Level tournaments.
